Severus and Lily

'Always.'

What makes me really sad is not that he never was loved back, but the fact that Lily never forgave him so they never talked ever again. That is a sad way to end a friendship. 

Summary of the situation:
- Snape is from a  poor dysfunctional family; his father is abusive.
-Snape meets Lily at age 9 or so and they become friends.
-Snape starts loving Lily
-Snape and Lily go to Hogwarts, but in separate houses: he in Slytherin and she in Griffindor.
- Snape is always bullied by James and Sirius, Lily always stands in their way and saves Snape.( James was a bit of an asshole in his youth as he was hexing people just for fun, Sirius also almost killed Severus because one of his jokes).
-Snape is kind-of a geek-ish outcast. He doesn't fit anywhere. He is not handsome like Sirius, or good at sports like James. BUt he is good in Potions, and gradually fits in with the other Slytherins by developing an interest for the dark arts.
-He does this to impress Lily, and ironically, this is what drives her away from him.
- J.K. Rowling stated that Lily might have loved and married Snape if he wasn't so much into the dark arts.
- While James was bullying Snape, Lily comes to  his aid again. This time he was frustrated that she basically made him look even more
like a fool ( being saved by a girl and all). In anger (and I don't think he was really angry with her, he was angry about the situation and just snapped) he calls her a 'Mudblood'.
-He tries to apologise but she never forgives him.
- James changes in the final years at Hogwarts (although he still hexes Snape without Lily knowing about it). and LIly dates him and marries him.
-Snape becomes a Death Eater and he hears part of the prophecy and reports it to Voldemort, without knowing that it involves Lily and her family.
- Snape begs Dumbledore to save Lily and even James and Harry.
-After the Potters die, Snape becomes a double spy.
-He actually helps Harry a lot, of course without him knowing. And this is done with great risk. Snape is so mean to Harry, but only as a facade...
-Harry hates him at first, but in the end he finds out the truth and he thinks with great respect about him. He insists for Snape to have a portrait at Hogwarts and also he names one of his kids 'Severus'.

Snape's last wish was for Harry to look at him( Harry had Lily's eyes).

Personal thoughts:
Friendship is about finding the strength to overcome fights and forgive and ask for forgiveness. I sometimes said bad things to my friends when I am really angry. That doesn't mean I meant it. And my friends said bad things too, but I know they didn't mean it. Stuff like that happens in the heath of the moment, but when things cool down we find it in our hearts to continue our friendship.

Severus asked for forgiveness. Lily should have forgive him, as they were friends since they were kids.
I don't agree with racist views (and Death Eaters and Voldemort=racism/ discrimination to muggles and mudbloods), but Snape was still young. Maybe if she would have forgive him and convince him that dark magic is a bad path...maybe...maybe he would have changed his mind and he never would have became a death eater.

I am not saying Lily should have married him. Love has to come from both sides. If you love someone, that someone is not obliged to love you back.
But the author said Lily would have loved Snape, if it weren't for the dark magic and supremacist views he was embracing.

All in all he is one of my favorite characters from the books.
